NBA Game Summary - Sacramento at Minnesota

12.13.2005

Minneapolis, MN (Basketball News) - Bonzi Wells buried a three-point shot at the buzzer to lift the Sacramento Kings to a 93-91 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves at Target Center.

Wells finished with a team-high 20 points to pace a balanced Sacramento attack. Shareef Abdur-Rahim added 19 points while Mike Bibby had 17 and Peja Stojakovic finished with 14 for the Kings.

Wally Szczerbiak poured in 25 points and had eight rebounds to lead the Timberwolves. Kevin Garnett added 22 for the Wolves, who suffered their second straight heartbreaking defeat.

Marko Jaric also reached double figures with 16 points while Trenton Hassell had 12 and Mark Madsen added 10 boards for the Wolves.

Bibby tied the game at 89-89 with a three from the top of the key with just 48.6 seconds remaining.

Hassell quickly put the Wolves back on top after driving by Brad Miller for an easy layup with 31.1 left.

Sacramento quickly posted Wells on Jaric and the veteran scorer drew a foul but missed one-of-two free throws, leaving the Wolves with a precarious one- point advantage with 28 ticks left.

Instead of fouling, the Kings let Minnesota milk the clock, leaving just 2.7 seconds after Garnett missed a turnaround baseline jumper.

That’s all Wells needed as he drained the three from the left corner as time expired.

The Kings jumped out to a 24-19 the first-quarter lead spurred by the hot shooting of Stojakovic and Wells, who combined to make 5-of-6 shots in the opening stanza.

Sacramento extended the lead to 14 with a 9-0 run capped by a Brian Skinner jump hook over Garnett. The Wolves were held scoreless for the first 5:29 of the quarter until Szczerbiak drained a technical free throw.

The Kings have only won one of the last eight meeting between the clubs...Sacramento has lost 12 of its last 16 at Minnesota...The Kings are 3-5 as the visitor this season...The Timberwolves are now 7-3 at the Target Center this season. They had won four of their last five at home.
