Amber Holt had a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds for Middle Tennessee (28-3), which increased its winning streak to a school-record 25 games, 10 better than the previous mark of 15 set from January 12-March 4, 1987. The 25-game stretch is also the longest in the nation.
Seeking their fourth straight SBC title, the top-seeded Blue Raiders will battle either Arkansas State or Louisiana-Lafayette in the championship game on Tuesday. Middle Tennessee’s win streak in the SBC tourney currently stands at 12 games.
Nnenna Akotaobi scored 11 points and was the only player in double figures for fourth-seeded Denver (20-11), which shot a dismal 30 percent (7-for-23) in the first half and trailed 43-17 at intermission.
Middle Tennessee leads the all-time series between the schools, 7-3.
