Bobcats attempt to halt losing streak at Denver

02.21.2006

(Basketball News) - The Charlotte Bobcats try to put the brakes on a four-game losing streak when they visit the Denver Nuggets tonight at the Pepsi Center in both teams first game back from the All-Star break.

This is the second and final meeting of the season between the clubs. On December 13th, Carmelo Anthony poured in a career-high 42 points to pace the Nuggets to a 101-85 victory over the Bobcats at Charlotte.

Denver has won two straight and two of the three meetings between the squads.

Charlotte, which has dropped 11 in a row as the visitor, plays the first of a season-long six-game road trip. On February 15th, Vince Carter scored 19 points and tipped in his own miss with 9.6 seconds left to boost the New Jersey Nets to a 95-94 triumph over the Bobcats, in the final game prior to the All-Star break for the two teams.

Brevin Knight had a season-high 28 points in the loss to the Nets for Charlotte. Jumaine Jones added 18 points for the Bobcats, who has lost 17 of their last 20 games overall.

The Bobcats are a brutal 4-22 on the road this season. They will also visit Portland, Phoenix, the Clippers, Utah and Dallas on the current swing.

Charlotte’s last road victory was a 93-90 victory over Atlanta on December 27, 2005 at Philips Arena.

The Nuggets play the finale of a two-game homestand. Reigning MVP Steve Nash tallied 19 points, pulled down six rebounds and dished out 12 assists to lead the Phoenix Suns to an easy 116-101 win over Denver last Wednesday at the Pepsi Center.

Anthony recorded a game-high 29 points in the loss to Phoenix for the Nuggets, who lost for the first time in three games. Andre Miller ended with 14 points and nine assists, while Marcus Camby netted 13 and pulled down seven rebounds in defeat.

Denver is 17-11 as the host this season. It has lost two of its last three at the Pepsi Center.

The Nuggets are in first place in the Northwest Division, two games ahead of the Jazz.
