Cavs, minus LeBron, clobber Warriors 01.30.2007
|
It was no LeBron, no problem for the Cavaliers, who received 15 points from Donyell Marshall and 14 points and 10 rebounds from Zydrunas Ilgauskas. Daniel Gibson tallied 12 points, Larry Hughes led three players with 11 points apiece, while Damon Jones added 10 points in a bounce-back game.
Playing with an ailing James, Cleveland dropped a 115-100 decision against Phoenix on Sunday. The franchise player decided to sit out this contest with a sore big toe.
Baron Davis totaled 21 points and eight assists and Al Harrington added 13 points and eight rebounds for the Warriors, who saw a brief two-game winning streak come to an end.
The first quarter told the tale of a Cleveland rout, as the Cavs opened an 18-18 tie with a 19-4 stretch to end the quarter. Anderson Varejao scored back-to-back buckets for a 27-20 edge then after a pair of Hughes free throws, Jones buried a trey and converted a jumper for a 34-20 game.
After cutting the deficit to 10 points, Golden State saw Cleveland rip off six points in succession. Pavlovic’s jumper made the score 46-30, and Cleveland ended up holding a 67-47 advantage at the half.
Stephen Jackson made two free throws to bring the Warriors within 12 points at 88-76 with 1:02 left in the third, and Golden State entered the final stanza trailing 91-76.
Jackson had just six points on 2-of-7 shooting.
Marshall converted an easy slam and David Wesley buried a trey to start the fourth period, and the Cavs cruised from there.
