Diop sidelined with knee injury

12.2.2003

Cleveland, OH (Basketball News) - Cleveland Cavaliers forward/center DeSagana Diop may need surgery on his right knee after an MRI exam revealed a torn lateral meniscus.

Diop suffered the injury during overtime of Saturday’s game versus Memphis.

"Obviously, this is a big setback for DeSagana, who has been playing the best basketball of his career," general manager Jim Paxson said. "Moving forward, we’ll work with DeSagana and our medical staff to determine the best course of repair and act quickly so we can get him back in the lineup as soon as possible."

In 16 games this season, Diop has averaged 2.8 points and 4.5 rebounds per contest.
