Golden State Warriors Team Report - January 16

(Basketball News) - The Warriors dropped a 104-102 decision to the Kobe-less Los Angeles Lakers at The Arena in Oakland on Saturday.

Derek Fisher had a career-high 29 points against his former club, but it wasn’t enough as the Warriors dropped their ninth straight. Speedy Claxton added 15 points and 10 assists, but his three-point attempt as time expired bounced off the back rim.

Troy Murphy recorded 14 points and 19 rebounds and Mike Dunleavy had 21 points for Golden State, which has lost four straight to the Lakers.

Los Angeles trailed 92-83 after Fisher drained a jumper with 8:21 remaining. However, the club responded with a 16-4 burst to take the lead. Chris Mihm started the run with four straight points and Tierre Brown’s driving layup with 2:12 left gave the Lakers a 99-96 cushion.

Dunleavy answered with a three-pointer to tie the contest with 1:58 on the clock and the two teams would go back and forth until the final seconds.

Just prior to Odom’s winning basket, Golden State’s Adonal Foyle was called for an offensive foul after grabbing a rebound and going back up against Odom.

Odom then took an inbounds pass from Caron Butler and dribbled at half court until he went to the rim with veteran Cliff Robinson guarding him. Odom beat him off the dribble and laid the ball off the glass for the winner.

Golden State hit 43 percent from the field, including 12-of-31 from long range.

The Warriors have a day off before hosting the Denver Nuggets on Monday evening.
