Hornets’ Magloire sidelined with finger injury

11.30.2004

New Orleans, LA (Basketball News) - New Orleans Hornets center Jamaal Magloire is expected to be sidelined for up to three months because of a dislocated right ring finger.

Magloire suffered the injury during the fourth quarter of Friday night’s loss at Phoenix and then missed games against the Lakers on Sunday and the Nuggets on Monday.

According to the club, Magloire will wear a splint for eight weeks and then rehab the injury for four additional weeks. Surgery is not expected to be required.

Magloire, who participated in the 2004 All-Star Game, has started 11 games this season and is averaging 14.1 points and 9.1 rebounds per contest.

The Hornets selected Magloire with the 19th overall pick of the 2000 NBA Draft. In 331 career games, he has posted averages of 9.5 points and 7.3 boards per outing.

Meanwhile, Magloire was fined $7,500 by the league on Tuesday for throwing a basketball at Golden State’s Mike Dunleavy Jr. and hitting him in the chest during a game against the Warriors on Tuesday, November 23.
