Knicks pay a visit to Charlotte Bobcats Arena

11.23.2005

(Basketball News) - The struggling Charlotte Bobcats attempt to put the brakes on a two-game losing streak tonight when they host the New York Knicks.

Charlotte has lost seven of its last eight games overall. On Saturday, Kevin Garnett scored 19 points to lead five Timberwolves in double figures, as the Minnesota Timberwolves knocked off the Bobcats, 102-89, at the Target Center.

Rookie Raymond Felton led the Bobcats with 15 points and also dished out five assists in the loss to Minnesota for the Bobcats, while fellow rookie Sean May scored six points and grabbed seven rebounds. Emeka Okafor, who was the 2004-05 Rookie of the Year, registered a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds boards for the Bobcats, who shot just 37 percent from the floor but did connect on 28-of-32 from the charity stripe.

The Bobcats are 2-3 at Charlotte Bobcats Arena this season. They will visit the Boston Celtics on Friday at TD Banknorth Garden, before returning home to host the Washington Wizards on Saturday.

New York will try and win its second straight game. On Sunday, Stephon Marbury registered 27 points and eight assists to lead the Knicks to a 103-92 victory over the Portland Trail Blazers at Madison Square Garden.

Rookie Channing Frye had 20 points off the bench and Jamal Crawford netted 19 in the win over Portland for the Knicks, who halted a two-game losing streak. New York used a huge third quarter to seal the win and post its third straight victory against the Blazers at home.

On the injury front, New York guard Quentin Richardson (back) is questionable for tonight’s game. Richardson did not play on Sunday against the Trail Blazers.

The Knicks are 2-5 on the road this season. They return on Saturday to Madison Square Garden to host Allen Iverson and the Philadelphia 76ers.

New York has won three straight and three of the four meetings between the clubs.
