Mavs acquire Armstrong from Hornets

12.3.2004

Dallas, TX (Basketball News) - The Dallas Mavericks acquired guard Darrell Armstrong from the New Orleans Hornets on Friday in exchange for guard Dan Dickau and a second-round draft pick.

Armstrong played in 14 games for New Orleans this season, including nine starts, and averaged 10.1 points, 4.6 assists and 3.4 rebounds per contest.

The 36-year-old Armstrong is in his 11th NBA season. He spent the first nine years of his career with Orlando and has career averages of 11.6 points, 4.9 assists and 3.2 boards per outing.

Dickau was obtained by Dallas from Golden State along with Erick Dampier, Evan Eschmeyer and the draft rights to Steve Logan on August 24, 2004 in exchange for Christian Laettner, Eduardo Najera, two future first round draft picks, cash considerations and the draft rights to both Luis Flores and Mladen Sekularac. It marks the third time that Dickau has been traded since February of this year.

The 26-year-old Dickau, a star player at Gonzaga, participated in just four games for the Mavericks this season and scored five points in 16 minutes of action.
