The streaking Grizzlies attempt to collect a season-high sixth straight victory on Tuesday, as they host the New Orleans/Oklahoma City Hornets at the FedExForum. Memphis has won six of nine and seven of the last 12 meetings in this series. The Hornets have lost four of their last six at the Grizzlies.
The Grizzlies begin a brief two-game homestand against the Hornets. On Saturday, Damon Stoudamire scored 24 points and Bobby Jackson added a season- high 18 off the bench, as Memphis jumped out to a large early lead and beat the Houston Rockets, 90-75, at the Toyota Center.
Stoudamire and Jackson combined to make 11-of-15 three-point field goals, as the team finished 15-of-32 from beyond the arc in the win over the Rockets. The 15 three-pointers were a franchise record. Pau Gasol added 15 points and seven rebounds, while Shane Battier tallied 14 points for the Grizzlies, who won nine of their last 11 games overall.
Memphis, which has won two in a row at the FedExForum, is 5-2 at home this season. The Grizzlies are scheduled to host Dirk Nowitzki and the Dallas Mavericks on Friday. After the Dallas game, Memphis heads to Indiana to face Ron Artest and the Pacers on Saturday at Conseco Fieldhouse.
Gasol, who has registered double-digits in scoring in 15 of Memphis’ first 17 games this season, leads the Grizzlies in scoring (18.6 ppg) and rebounding (8.8 rpg), while Stoudamire is averaging a team-high 4.9 assists per game.
The Grizzlies have scored 90 or more points in four straight games. They are 8-1 when they score 90 or more points this season.
