Milwaukee Bucks or Miami Heat? Where Should Charlie Bell Play?

September 18 07
If at first you don’t succeed in signing Milwaukee’s restricted free agents, then try again. Clearly, Miami Heat coach Pat Riley lives by this saying. Riley failed to land Milwaukee table-setter Mo Williams, so now he has signed Charlie Bell, the Bucks’ third guard last year, to a five year, 18 million dollar offer sheet.

Milwaukee has a couple of weeks to decide whether they’ll match the offer. Nobody knows what they’ll do. We decided to speculate on how well Bell would fit with both teams.
With Milwaukee
  • Bell would get more minutes as the team’s third guard, backing-up Michael Redd and Mo Williams. And he would also play when the Bucks decided to use their small line-up.
  • However, Bell is upset with Milwaukee. He feels disrespected. The club promised to take care of him this summer and contract negotiations have been difficult.
  • Nobody knows how competitive the Bucks will be this season.
With Miami
  • Smush Parker. Dwyane Wade. Jason Williams. Dorell Wright. Miami is loaded with perimeter players and guards, so Bell would have to fight for his minutes.
  • However, rumor has it the Heat will unload a few players. If Bell stays in The MIA, then Jason Williams will likely end up elsewhere.
Final Call: An unhappy player is an unproductive player. So hopefully, the Bucks decline to match the offer sheet and Bell gets to leave the cold of Wisconsin for the warmth of Miami. The muscular guard will get minutes, too. After all, he’s a reliable and consistent player, something the Heat could use.

Where’s the best situation for Bell: Milwaukee or Miami? Get at us in the comment box below with your thoughts.

No PAT on the Back

People bash JWIll like he sucks, last time I checked he was the lead PG during the year they won the finals and he played well. We always talk about a person proving their worth once they get a ring, and he has done that. He gets out of control sometimes but he is clam he does well. Bell is a waste of money you can do better than that PAT. .

The 5 year contract is ridiculous and moving J Will, unless he is seriously injured, is equally as dumb. Bell is a solid player, but his skills aren’t on the same level as J Will. Bell is a better defender I guess, but he is in no way a starting point guard in the NBA. J Will, though not a great player, is definitely a serviceable starting NBA PG. Not sure what Pat Riley is thinking, but I would rather go in with J Will at point and Smush as a backup than with either Smush or Bell starting — neither are very good at all. .

Miami is gonna win more games than Milwaukee. Miami will atleast probably make the playoffs. They not win a championship, but joining the Heat gives him a better chance than the Bucks. .

How is Miami the winning spot? They only have Shaq and D-Wade, not the same team that won the Finals two years ago. .

Hexum: the author is speaking figuratively not literally. But, if you want to bring it up, most ballers prefer Miami to Milwaukee .

Being from Milwaukee, and seeing C.Bell play all the time I say take him Miami. His numbers were highly inflated last year due to injuries. He doesn’t have quick feet, and his shot is very inconsistant. He’s not worth that kind of money. As for the cold... that was just a stupid comment. He’s from Flint, MIchigan. Do you really think that bothers him. Last time I checked you play basketball inside. Charlie will be a member of the heat for 5 more years. Have fun... he might give you 5ppg, 3apg and 3rpg. .

Money and winnning wise Miami is the spot. Playing time Milwaukee has the edge over Miami. But I don’t see the Bucks matching that offer, and Bell will go to the Heat, and they will try to free up some time for him by unloading a guard or two. .
