Blazers finish homestand against Knicks

On Wednesday, Damon Stoudamire scored three points in the final 17.7 seconds of overtime to rally Portland to a 97-95 win over Indiana. Zach Randolph poured in a career-high 34 points for the Trail Blazers, who have won four of their last six.

Stoudamire and Rasheed Wallace both finished with 17 points, while Jeff McInnis added 13 points for Portland, which rallied from a five-point deficit in the final 26.1 seconds of regulation.

The Blazers should have Wesley Person in uniform tonight after the 32-year-old veteran was acquired by the Memphis Grizzlies along with a conditional No. 1 pick in the 2004 NBA Draft on Wednesday for disgruntled guard Bonzi Wells.

Person, known for his shooting ability, had struggled for Memphis this season. In 16 games, he averaged only 5.2 points and 1.4 assists.

Portland, which will start a three-game stretch away from home on Sunday, is 9-2 at home this season.

New York, meanwhile, got its season-high five-game road trip off to a disappointing start on Wednesday, as it fell 95-87 to the Seattle SuperSonics. Allan Houston paced the Knicks with a game-high 24 points. Keith Van Horn posted a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds for the Knicks, who have dropped two straight contests.

Antonio McDyess, playing in only his second game back after missing almost two years with a knee injury, scored seven points and grabbed seven rebounds in 19 minutes off the bench.

Charlie Ward had 15 points to go along with his team-high seven assists and could supplant Howard Eisley as the team’s starting point guard tonight. Head coach Don Chaney is mulling a switch at the point from Howard Eisley, but he could opt to use second-year man Frank Williams as the starter.

With 23 turnovers, the Knicks tied the Atlanta Hawks for the turnover lead at 17.8 per game. Their 4.2 turnover differential is second-worst in the league - 17.8 to their opponents’ 13.6.

New York is 3-7 on the road this season.

Portland has won three straight in this series and four of the last five matchups. The Knicks have also dropped three straight in the Rose Garden.
