Blazers sign 2004 first-round draft pick

Portland, OR (Basketball News) - The Portland Trail Blazers have signed forward Sergei Monia to a multi-year contract. Monia, a 6’8", 220-pounder from Saratov, Russia, was originally selected by the Trail Blazers with the 23rd overall selection in the 2004 NBA Draft.

Monia averaged 5.3 points last season in 20 playing for CSKA in Moscow.

He has also played at the 2002 European under-20 Championship and was a member of the Russian National Team.
