Bulls take on Clippers in LA

(Basketball News) - The Chicago Bulls try to extend their winning streak to four games when they visit the Los Angeles Clippers tonight at the Staples Center.

Chicago begins a seven-game road trip this evening. On Saturday, Ben Gordon’s jumper with two minutes left gave Chicago the lead for good and the Bulls went on to defeat the defending world champion Miami Heat, 100-97, at the United Center.

Gordon ended with 34 points, six rebounds and seven assists to lead the Bulls, who have won three straight and six of their last eight games overall. Kirk Hinrich finished with 26 points for Chicago, while Andres Nocioni netted 19 in the victory.

On the injury front for the Bulls, center Ben Wallace is doubtful with a left knee injury. Wallace was injured in the win over the Heat.

The Bulls, who have dropped three of their last four as the visitor, are 6-13 on the road this season. They will also visit Seattle, Portland, Utah, Sacramento, Golden State and Phoenix on the current road trip.

Los Angeles tries to win consecutive games before embarking on a seven-game road trip. Elton Brand poured in 22 points and grabbed seven rebounds as the Clippers defeated the SuperSonics, 98-76, on Sunday at KeyArena.

Veteran Sam Cassell was a perfect 5-for-5 from three-point range and finished with 21 points and seven assists in the win over Seattle for the Clippers, who have won five of their last six games overall. Cuttino Mobley and Corey Maggette both had 10 points, while Chris Kaman pulled down 15 rebounds in the victory.

The Clippers are 16-8 as the host this season. They will visit Boston, Toronto, New York, Cleveland, Philadelphia, Indiana and Detroit on the upcoming road trip.

This is the first of two meetings between the clubs this season. The Bulls are scheduled to host the Clippers on March 20th at the Staples Center.

Chicago has won 11 of its last 16 at the Clippers, who have won three of the last four in the series.
