Jackson paces Warriors past Jazz

Baron Davis had 19 points and eight assists for the Warriors, who moved into a virtual tie with the Los Angeles Clippers for the eighth and final postseason spot in the Western Conference. The Clippers lost at Dallas Monday night. Golden State has just four games left in the regular season, while LA has six.

Monta Ellis and Matt Barnes each added 16 points, while Al Harrington contributed 15 points and 11 rebounds for the Warriors, who at 38-40 are trying to end 12 straight years of a losing record. The team hasn’t been to the playoffs since 1994.

Golden State won for the fifth time in six games.

Ronnie Brewer had 21 points for the Jazz, who have lost four in a row, but remain entrenched in the fourth position in the West as the Northwest Division champions. However, the Jazz are now a half-game behind Houston for the fourth-best record in the conference.

Utah held a 27-26 edge after the opening quarter and were ahead 35-28 in the second when it fell apart. The Warriors embarked on a 25-4 spurt, capped by an Ellis driving layup for a 53-39 lead with 3:37 left in the half.

Davis’ three at the end of the half widened the margin to 63-47 and the Warriors coasted in the final 24 minutes. A Barnes shot from beyond the arc widened the lead to 96-71 late in the third, and it was 99-75 going into the fourth.

Golden State led by as many as 32, at 111-79 on a Jackson jumper with 8:15 left.

Jason Richardson had 11 points for the Warriors, who shot 55.3 percent from the field, including 11-of-21 from three-point range...Utah was limited to 40.2 percent shooting.
