Jazz exercise option on McLeod

06.30.2006

Salt Lake City, UT (Basketball News) - The Utah Jazz exercised an option on guard Keith McLeod, the team announced on Friday. Terms of the contract were not released.

The signing keeps McLeod from becoming an unrestricted free agent.

Over the course of his two seasons in Utah, McLeod averaged 6.6 points and 3.3 assists in 119 games for the Jazz, 79 of which were starts. McLeod also had a career-high 22 points against the Memphis Grizzlies on December 26, 2005, and twice notched a career-best 11 assists last season.

The 6-foot-2 Bowling Green product was not drafted by an NBA franchise and played in 33 games with the Minnesota Timberwolves during the 2003-04 season, averaging 2.7 points and 1.8 assists.

In his three-year NBA career, McLeod has seen action in 152 games and has averaged 5.8 points, 2.9 assists and 19.8 minutes per game.

Prior to playing in the NBA, McLeod played in the Italian league from 2002-04, where he averaged 12.9 points and 2.2 assists over 42 games.
