Jazz rout Warriors

Salt Lake City, UT (Basketball News) - Carlos Boozer had 17 points and 14 rebounds and Mehmet Okur led the way with 21 points, as the Utah Jazz trounced Golden State, 106-82, at the Delta Center.

C.J. Miles chipped in 17 points for the Jazz, who were coming off a 108-104 victory against the Phoenix Suns on Friday. Matt Harpring added 12 points in the victory for the Jazz, who had four players in double figures.

Troy Murphy, Mike Dunleavy and Ike Diogu each posted 12 points in the loss for Golden State, which began a three-game road trip. The Warriors were coming off a 102-89 victory over the Portland Trail Blazers on Friday. They fell to 1-2 on the season.

Jason Richardson and Andris Biedrins added 11 points each. Biedrins also grabbed 12 rebounds in the contest.

The Warriors entered the third quarter trailing by 21 points. They made a couple of quick runs on back-and-forth action, but didn’t come close to taking the lead.

Murphy hit a three-pointer as Golden State closed its deficit to 74-61, but Utah’s offense exploded after that point. Okur drained a turnaround jumper and then posted a couple of three-pointers. Harpring also made a three-point shot and then added a layup and a free throw to put the Jazz back up by 23.

Utah then took a 85-62 lead into the fourth stanza and never looked back.

The Jazz put 60 on the board in the first half for the second time this season. They held a 29-22 lead after the opening quarter, then widened that margin substantially going into halftime.

Working off a tremendous offensive outburst, Utah used a 20-8 run to open the second quarter. Harpring contributed on five of those points. His layup at 8:39 was followed later on by a running jumper and a shot from the charity stripe to put his team out in front by 19. Fast forwarding, Gordan Giricek’s jumper with a minute left gave the Jazz a 60-41 lead to close out the second.

Game Notes
