Jazz try once again to get Sloan 1000th win 12.11.2006

Sloan can become the fifth head coach in league history to achieve 1,000 career wins. The 64-year-old owns a 999-662 career record in 21 seasons behind the bench, the last 18 of which have been spent with the Jazz.
On Friday, All-Star Kevin Garnett finished with 31 points and 14 rebounds to lead the Minnesota Timberwolves over the Jazz, 110-103, at the Target Center.
Deron Williams ended with 21 points and 11 assists in the loss to the Timberwolves for Utah, which had a two-game winning streak halted and failed in its first attempt to get Sloan his milestone victory. Derek Fisher contributed 17 points for the Jazz, while Andrei Kirilenko netted 12 in defeat.
The Jazz are an impressive 10-1 as the host this season. They have won three in a row on their homecourt. Utah will visit the Clippers on Wednesday at the Staples Center.
Dallas attempts to win back-to-back games this evening. Josh Howard tied a career-high with 30 points and pulled down 11 rebounds as the Mavericks coasted to a 105-90 win over the Denver Nuggets on Saturday at American Airlines Center.
Dirk Nowitzki scored 25 points and grabbed nine rebounds in the win over Denver for the Mavericks, who have won two of their last three games overall. Jason Terry poured in 24 points for Dallas.
The Mavericks are 6-3 on the road this season. They are scheduled to host the Lakers on Wednesday.
Dallas has won two of its last three at Utah. The Mavericks have won seven of the last eight contests in this series.
