Kapono signs offer sheet with Heat

Miami, FL (Basketball News) - The Miami Heat announced Friday that the club has signed restricted free agent forward Jason Kapono to an offer sheet. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.

The Charlotte Bobcats, Kapono’s 2004-05 team, now have seven days to decide whether to match the Heat’s offer for the soon to be third-year player.

Kapono averaged 8.5 points and 2.0 rebounds in 81 games last season for the Bobcats, who selected the former UCLA standout in the 2004 expansion draft. The 24-year-old owns a 42.4 percent career success rate from three-point range.

A second-round draft choice by Cleveland in 2003, Kapono averaged 3.5 points and 1.3 rebounds during his rookie season with the Cavaliers.
