Knicks finish homestand against Trail Blazers

New York is 1-2 so far on the stand and suffered a 92-77 loss to the Dallas Mavericks on Tuesday. Eddy Curry had 22 points and 12 rebounds to lead New York, which has dropped three of four games overall. Nate Robinson added 19 points in the loss, as the Knicks sit in a three-way tie with Indiana and Orlando for the eighth and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.

The Knicks are 18-16 at Madison Square Garden this season. On the injury front for New York, forward Channing Frye (eye) and guard Stephon Marbury (arm) are probable for Thursday’s game, while guard Quentin Richardson (back) is questionable against Portland.

Portland, meanwhile, embarks on a four-game road trip starting in the Big Apple Thursday night.

The Trail Blazers have just three wins over their last 11 games, including Tuesday’s 100-98 victory over the Washington Wizards at the Rose Garden. LaMarcus Aldridge scored 25 points and pulled down eight rebounds, while Jarrett Jack made three crucial free throws in the final 14 seconds.

Rookie of the Year candidate Brandon Roy scored 19 points and grabbed a career-high 12 rebounds for the Trail Blazers, who are 4 1/2 games off the eighth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference.

The Blazers played without leading scorer and rebounder Zach Randolph, who was granted bereavement leave by the team on Monday. Randolph will not compete against the Knicks.

Portland will also visit Atlanta, Minnesota and Chicago on the trek, and is 11-21 away from home this season.

Thursday’s game between Portland and New York is the second and final meeting of the regular season. The Knicks won the first matchup, 99-81, on January 3 at the Rose Garden.

New York has won two straight and four of the last six meetings.

Portland has lost three straight and six of its last seven in the Big Apple.
