Knicks, Wizards meet at Verizon Center

This is the fourth and final meeting of the campaign between the squads. The Wizards won two of the three contests.

New York has lost four straight after winning its last three at Washington. The Wizards have captured four of the last five contests in the series.

The Southeast Division-leading Wizards suffered a tough loss on the road in their last game. On Wednesday, Zaza Pachulia scored a career-high 27 points and pulled down 12 rebounds to lead the Atlanta Hawks over the Wizards, 100-97, at Philips Arena.

All-Star Gilbert Arenas finished with 28 points in the loss to the Hawks to lead Washington, which had a three-game winning streak halted. Antawn Jamison had 22 points in defeat.

Washington is 24-8 at home this season. The Wizards will meet Shaquille O’Neal and the Miami Heat, who are in second place in the Southeast Division, on Sunday at AmericanAirilines Arena.

Center Etan Thomas (personal) is questionable for the Wizards. Thomas is averaging 5.5 points and 5.3 rebounds in 43 games this season.

New York plays the opener of a short two-game road trip. On Tuesday, Rashard Lewis’ three-pointer with 4.8 seconds left helped lift the Seattle SuperSonics over the Knicks, 100-99, at Madison Square Garden.

Stephon Marbury ended with 40 points, but missed the potential game-tying free throw with nine-tenths of a second left, as New York failed to win its third straight game. Eddy Curry added 15 points and eight rebound in the loss to Seattle for the Knicks.

The Knicks are just 11-20 on the road this season. They will visit the Toronto Raptors on Wednesday at the Air Canada Centre.

On the injury front for New York, guard Nate Robinson (flu/stomach virus) and forward David Lee (sprained right ankle/strained muscle) are questionable for tonight’s contest. Robinson is averaging 8.2 points this season, while Lee, who has missed six straight games, has posted 11.2 points and 10.7 rebounds per game.
