Cook, the Lakers’ first-round draft pick last year out of Illinois, joins center Shaquille O’Neal, forward Karl Malone and guard Kobe Bryant on the sideline. O’Neal is hampered by a calf injury, Malone a knee sprain and Bryant a shoulder problem.
Cook, who was selected 24th overall in the 2003 NBA Draft, fractured a bone in his pinkie on his right hand. The injury occurred during Thursday night’s 106-87 loss to the Dallas Mavericks, the Lakers’ ninth straight road defeat.
Cook has played just 13 games this season for Los Angeles, averaging 6.6 points and 4.2 rebounds per contest. He was forced to sit out the team’s first 25 games of the season with a fractured ring finger on his left hand.
