Originally, Radmanovic said he sustained the injury after slipping on a patch of ice last Saturday in Utah. However, less than a week later he told the truth of what really happened.
"The truth is that I hurt myself in a fall while snowboarding," Radmanovic said. "Being young and sometimes immature, I initially panicked and made up a false story about how I hurt myself. However, over the past few days my conscience has been bothering me terribly. I am not a dishonest person and could no longer live with this deception. Therefore, I came forward today and told the truth to the Lakers."
It was revealed the 26-year-old Radmanovic separated his right shoulder, after undergoing an MRI exam and CT scan on Monday.
"I can’t express enough how deeply sorry I am, not only for the activity that led to my injury, but also for the initial deception of my story," Radmanovic said. "I hope for everyone’s understanding and forgiveness. I vow to work as hard as possible to rehabilitate my shoulder and rejoin my teammates as soon as possible and to help us become a team that Lakers fans can be proud of."
In 52 games this season with the Lakers, Radmanovic has averaged 6.9 points and 3.4 rebounds per contest.
The five-year veteran has appeared in 402 games with the Seattle SuperSonics, Los Angeles Clippers and Lakers, averaging 9.7 points and 4.4 rebounds per game.
After splitting last season with the SuperSonics and Clippers, Radmanovic signed a five-year contract with the Lakers in the offseason.
