Magloire reportedly on his way to Portland

07.31.2006

Milwaukee, WI (Basketball News) - The Milwaukee Bucks are in need of a point guard and they reportedly found one Monday, acquiring Steve Blake and two other players from the Portland Trail Blazers in exchange for veteran big man Jamaal Magloire.

The Bucks would also pick up frontline player Brian Skinner and 7-foot-3 center Ha Seung-Jin in the deal with Portland, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel.

Magloire has one year remaining on his contract at $8.3 million after starting all 82 games last season. He compiled 9.2 points and 9.5 rebounds per game, ranking 10th in the league in rebounding average.

The key acquisition on Milwaukee’s end is Blake, who will see significant playing time at point guard following the club’s trade of T.J. Ford to Toronto earlier in the summer.

Blake averaged 8.2 points and 4.5 assists in 68 games, 57 starts, for the Blazers in 2005-06. He shared time running the offense with Jarrett Jack and Sebastian Telfair, who was sent to Boston in June.

Milwaukee would also welcome Skinner and Ha to the fray, giving the club frontcourt depth. Skinner averaged 10.5 points and 7.3 rebounds during the 2003-04 season with Milwaukee, his best campaign as a pro.

Skinner averaged just 2.9 points and 3.5 rebounds per game between Sacramento and Portland last season.

Ha appeared in 46 games with Portland over two seasons, averaging a meager 1.5 points and 1.5 rebounds per contest.
