Nuggets starting to pull away in Northwest

02.27.2006

(Basketball News) - The Denver Nuggets (30-26) are 3 1/2 games ahead of the second place Utah Jazz in the Northwest Division.

Denver has won two in a row and will welcome the Milwaukee Bucks on Monday night to the Pepsi Center. It is the second and final meeting of the campaign between the clubs.

In the first meeting of the season between the Nuggets and Bucks, Carmelo Anthony netted a game-high 38 points to lead Denver to a 100-93 victory on January 14th at the Bradley Center. Earl Boykins chipped in 21 points off the bench for the Nuggets.

Winners of four of their last five games, the Nuggets posted a 102-101 overtime win on Friday against the Minnesota Timberwolves at the Target Center.

Anthony poured 30 points, including the game-winning three-pointer, and Andre Miller notched 19 points and 13 assists in Frida’s victory for Denver, which has won two of three games against the Timberwolves this season.

The Nuggets will be at home for the next two games before heading to Houston on March 3rd. After two more home games, Denver will open a seven-game road trip starting on March 9th in Philadelphia.

Denver is 7-3 in its last 10 home games and owns an 18-11 mark as the host this season.

Anthony, who leads the Nuggets in scoring (26.0 ppg), has scored 20 or more points in 10 straight games. He is averaging 28.2 points per games in that span.

The Nuggets have scored 100 or more points in eight straight contests and are 5-3 in that span.
