Portland Trail Blazers Team Report - March 8 03.8.2004
|
(Basketball News) - The Portland Trail Blazers found themselves on the wrong end of a 91-71 decision against the Los Angeles Clippers on Sunday at the Staples Center.
Darius Miles finished with 24 points and 13 rebounds, while Derek Anderson added 22 points in the losing effort, Portland’s fifth in six games.
The Trail Blazers, who lost their third straight on the road, were forced to play without leading scorer Zach Randolph, who was suspended for one game without pay for his part in several altercations during the Trail Blazers’ 91-70 victory over Utah on Saturday.
The margin of defeat matched their biggest ever against the Clippers franchise, who beat them 120-100 on Jan. 12, 1973, when they were the Buffalo Braves.
Portland is 10th in the Western Conference Standings, 2 1/2 games behind Denver for the eighth and final playoff spot.
The Trail Blazers will return to action on Wednesday against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
