Sixers start road trip against Warriors

This is the first of two meetings between the clubs this season. The Sixers are scheduled to host Golden State on February 2, 2007 at the Wachovia Center.

These teams have split the last eight contests in Oakland. Golden State has won two of three and five of the last eight meetings in this series.

Philadelphia enters tonight’s contest on a two-game winning streak. On Saturday, Andre Iguodala scored 20 points as the 76ers crushed the New York Knicks, 98-77, at the Wachovia Center.

Chris Webber posted 18 points and nine rebounds in the win over New York for the Sixers, who won their second straight and finally had newly-acquired Andre Miller and Joe Smith in uniform. The pair were obtained from Denver last Tuesday along with a pair of first-round picks for All-Star guard Allen Iverson and forward Ivan McFarlin.

Miller finished with nine points and 11 assists, while Smith had four points and seven rebounds. Kyle Korver scored 16 points and Samuel Dalembert added 11 points and eight boards in the victory.

The Sixers are a dismal 3-12 on the road this season. They will also visit Sacramento, Portland, the Lakers, Denver, Utah and Minnesota on the current swing.

Golden State tries to get back on the winning track as it opens a short two- game homestand. Jason Kapono came up huge off the bench for Miami, scoring a career-high 27 points to lead the Heat to a 105-92 win over the Warriors at AmericanAirlines Arena..

Matt Barnes had 20 points, 12 boards and five assists in the loss to Miami for the Warriors, who ended a six-game road trip with a 2-4 record. Golden State suffered an even bigger loss in the third quarter, losing Monta Ellis to a right shoulder injury.

Ellis, who is averaging 17.1 points and 4.1 assists per game this season, is questionable for tonight’s contest.

The Warriors are 11-5 at home this season. They will host the Boston Celtics on Friday.
