Sizzling Timberwolves visit Warriors

01.28.2004

Oakland, CA (Basketball News) - The Minnesota Timberwolves go for their sixth straight win tonight when they visit Jason Richardson and the Golden State Warriors at the Arena.

Earlier this season, the Warriors defeated the Timberwolves, 98-95, on December 9 at the Target Center.

Minnesota won six in a row earlier this season from December 12-23.

On Monday, Kevin Garnett scored 31 points and pulled down 13 rebounds to lead the Timberwolves to a 97-95 victory over the Denver Nuggets at the Pepsi Center.

Sam Cassell contributed 22 points and 11 assists in the victory for the Timberwolves, who have won their fifth game in a row. Latrell Sprewell added 13 in the win, including the go-ahead basket late in the fourth quarter.

The Timberwolves, who have won two straight and four of their last five on the road, are 16-7 as the visitor this season.

The Warriors come into tonight’s game well rested. Richardson poured in a game-high 31 points, as Golden State snapped its 12-game road losing streak by beating the Portland Trail Blazers, 105-87, on Saturday at the Rose Garden.

Richardson’s day was highlighted by his seven consecutive three-pointers, as he went 7-of-8 from behind the arc in the win. Speedy Claxton added 15 points, while Mike Dunleavy and Cliff Robinson each scored 11 points in the triumph. Claxton and Dunleavy also dished out seven assists each.

Eric Dampier had a huge night on Saturday as well, scoring 18 points while ripping down a game-high 20 rebounds for Golden State.

The Warriors are 13-7 at home this season.

Golden State has won two of its last three games with the Timberwolves, who has won five of eight and eight of their last 13 as the visitor against the Warriors.
