Spurs hope to continue winning ways in Orlando

(Basketball News) - The San Antonio Spurs go for their fourth straight win tonight, as they visit the Orlando Magic at TD Waterhouse Centre.

This is the first of two meetings between the clubs this season. The Spurs are scheduled to host the Magic on April 13, 2006 at the SBC Center.

San Antonio has won eight of the last 10 meetings in this series. The Spurs have won five of their last seven at Orlando.

Tony Parker had an all-around solid performance with 20 points, eight rebounds and seven assists, leading the world champion Spurs to a 100-91 victory over Allen Iverson and the Philadelphia 76ers on Saturday at the SBC Center.

Tim Duncan added 16 points and 12 rebounds in the win over Philadelphia for the Spurs, who won at home against the Sixers for the 18th time in the last 19 meetings. Brent Barry had 14 points and Rasho Nesterovic added 12 points and seven rebounds for San Antonio, which was without All-Star guard Manu Ginobili due to a right foot injury.

Ginobili, who has missed two game with the foot injury, is questionable for tonight’s contest. He is averaging 15.1 points, 4.9 rebounds and 3.1 assists this season.

The Spurs are 6-2 on the road this season. They have won three in a row as the visitor.

Orlando attempts to put the brakes on a three-game skid. The Magic start a three-game homestand this evening.

On Saturday, Michael Redd netted a game-high 30 points and Milwaukee pulled away in the fourth quarter to earn a 104-84 victory over the Magic at the Bradley Center.

Jameer Nelson, filling in for an injured Steve Francis, topped the Magic with 20 points and nine assists in the loss to the Bucks. DeShawn Stevenson had 15 points and Dwight Howard finished with 14 points and 17 rebounds in the loss.

Francis, Orlando’s leading scorer, has missed two straight games with injuries to his chest and left shoulder. He is questionable for tonight’s game.

The Magic are 4-4 at home this season. They will also host Chicago and Denver on the current stand.
