Spurs pay a visit to LeBron and Co.

01.2.2007

(Basketball News) - LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers welcome the San Antonio Spurs to Quicken Loans Arena this evening in a battle of top teams from each conference.

The Spurs have won two straight, three of four and 12 of the last 15 games, including Sunday’s 95-81 win over the Atlanta Hawks at the AT&T Center. Tony Parker had 27 points and Manu Ginobili added 18 to lead the Spurs.

Tim Duncan netted 17 points with 11 rebounds and Brent Barry had 12 points off the bench for the Spurs, who wrapped up a three-game homestand with two wins and a loss, and will open a two-game road trip.

San Antonio, which is just one game behind the Dallas Mavericks for the Southwest Division lead, is 11-3 as the visitor this season.

The Cavaliers, meanwhile, had a three-game winning streak come to an end with Saturday’s 103-96 setback to the Chicago Bulls at the United Center.

James had a game-high 33 points and nine boards for the Cavaliers, who are a game off the lead in the Central Division standings. Larry Hughes tallied 15 points and Zydrunas Ilgauskas had 14 and nine rebounds in the loss.

Cleveland is a solid 13-3 at Quicken Loans Arena this season.

The Cavs defeated San Antonio, 88-81, on November 3 this season at the AT&T Center. They have won two in a row in the series, but the Spurs are 10-4 over the past 14 meetings.

San Antonio, though, has dropped two of three, three of five and five of its last eight trips to Cleveland.
