Spurs try to stay hot against Kings

(Basketball News) - The San Antonio Spurs wrap up a five-game homestand this evening when they host the Sacramento Kings at the AT&T Center.

San Antonio is a perfect 4-0 so far on the stand and defeated the Portland Trail Blazers, 112-96, on Monday. Tony Parker poured in a game-high 30 points and Tim Duncan added 15 for Playoff-bound San Antonio.

Manu Ginobili donated 12 points and Bruce Bowen collected 10 points for San Antonio, which has now won 23 of its last 26 games and sits third in the Western Conference standings behind Dallas and Phoenix.

The Spurs, who are just two games behind the Suns for the No. 2 spot, have won eight in a row at home and own a 30-9 mark at the AT&T Center this season. In injury news for San Antonio, guard Brent Barry (back) is questionable for Wednesday’s game, while forwards Melvin Ely (ankle) and Robert Horry (abdomen) are both doubtful.

Sacramento, meanwhile, has won two of its last three games and notched a 112-100 victory over the Memphis Grizzlies on Tuesday in the opener of a two- game road trip at FedExForum.

Mike Bibby poured in 25 points and dished out seven assists, as Sacramento improved to 12-27 on the road this season. Francisco Garcia had 19 points and Brad Miller recorded a triple-double with 17 points, 10 rebounds and 11 assists. Justin Williams ended with 16 points and 11 rebounds for the Kings.

On the injury front for Sacramento, guard Quincy Douby (personal) is questionable, while guard Kevin Martin (illness) is probable and forward Corliss Williamson (heel) is doubtful for tonight’s contest.

Wednesday’s game between the Kings and Spurs is the fourth and final meeting of the season. San Antonio is 3-0 so far this season and has won seven of eight and nine of the last 11 meetings.

Sacramento has lost five of six and six of its last eight at the Spurs.
