Struggling Celtics try to get back on winning track in Oakland

(Basketball News) - The Golden State Warriors try to make it two straight wins when they host the slumping Boston Celtics tonight a ORACLE Arena.

On Tuesday, Matt Barnes finished with 25 points on 7-of-8 shooting from three- point range as Golden State defeated the Philadelphia 76ers, 116-97, at ORACLE Arena.

Baron Davis added 21 points and 16 assists in the win over Philadelphia for the Warriors, who have won three of their last four games overall. Mickael Pietrus chipped in with 17 points and Andris Biedrins finished with 16 points and 11 rebounds.

Golden State is 12-5 at home this season. After tonight’s game, the Warriors will embark on a three-game road trip. They will visit Sacramento, the Hornets and Memphis on the upcoming swing.

Boston has lost four in a row and plays the third of a five-game road trip. On Wednesday, Elton Brand and Tim Thomas scored 25 points each to lead the Clippers to a 100-77 rout of the Celtics at the Staples Center.

Sebastian Telfair scored 18 points in the loss to the Clippers for the Celtics, while Gerald Green scored 17 points and grabbed seven boards for Boston. Tony Allen scored 13 points and Al Jefferson netted 10 and pulled down 14 boards in defeat.

The Celtics are 6-7 on the road this season. They will visit Seattle on Sunday and Portland on Monday.

This is the second and final meeting of the season between the clubs. On December 20th, Baron Davis scored 31 points and dished out eight assists as the Warriors edged the Boston Celtics, 96-95, at TD Banknorth Garden.

Boston has lost two straight after winning its last two at Golden State. The Warriors have won two in a row in this series.
