(Basketball News) - The struggling Utah Jazz were handed a setback on Monday against the Miami Heat, as they dropped a 100-80 decision to the Utah Jazz at the Delta Center.
Matt Harpring led the Jazz with 12 points, while Carlos Boozer compiled 11 points and 10 rebounds. Carlos Arroyo dished out 11 assists for Utah, which has dropped five straight and nine of 11 after a 6-1 start to the year.
After Mehmet Okur’s jump shot cut Miami’s lead to 58-57 at the 7:24 mark of the third, the Heat put together a 19-2 run over the next five minutes to break open the contest. Damon Jones hit consecutive three-pointers to put Miami up 72-59 with under five minutes to go in the stanza and Dwyane Wade sank one of two foul shots to lengthen the margin to 14 points.
Wade then threw down a high-flying dunk with 3:15 left in the quarter before Shaquille O’Neal capped the flurry with a jam less than a minute later for a 77-59 game.
Jones’ seventh and final three of the night extended the cushion to 20 points, 86-66, with under nine minutes remaining and Utah never threatened over the rest of the night.
Utah returns to the court on Wednesday against Orlando.
