(Basketball News) - Gordan Giricek scored 11 of his career-high 33 points in the third quarter, as the Utah Jazz defeated the Phoenix Suns by a 99-90 score on Friday at America West Arena.
Raja Bell scored 16 points off the bench, while Carlos Arroyo, Andrei Kirilenko and Jarron Collins each had 15 for the Jazz, who have won three straight. Utah also has won three of its last four road games.
Jazz head coach Jerry Sloan left Phoenix shortly before the game to return home and be with his wife, who was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in January and is undergoing chemotherapy treatments.
Giricek has scored 21 or more points in three of his last four games. He has averaged 22 points in that span.
Utah is off until Sunday when it hosts rookie phenom Carmelo Anthony and the Denver Nuggets. The Jazz are 0-2 against the Nuggets this season. The teams will play again on March 27th at the Pepsi Center.
