According to a report in the San Francisco Chronicle, the Warriors will buy out the contract of the former first-round pick.
Wagner played in just one game for Golden State this season.
The former University of Memphis star was drafted sixth overall in 2002 by the Cleveland Cavaliers, and averaged 13.4 points and 2.8 assists in his rookie campaign.
He managed just 6.5 points per game in his second season, however, and appeared in just 11 contests in 2004-05 due to an illness diagnosed as colitis, an inflammation of the colon.
The 23-year-old played one season for Memphis, establishing a single-season school record for points (762) while being named Conference USA Player of the Year.
