Wizards gelling at right time

03.17.2006

(Basketball News) - With the NBA’s regular season winding down, the Washington Wizards are beginning to roll at the right time.

Currently seeded No. 5 in the Eastern Conference playoff race, the Wizards notched a 107-99 win over Charlotte on Wednesday.

Gilbert Arenas scored 34 points and Antawn Jamison had 20 points and grabbed 12 rebounds for the Wizards, who swept the Bobcats in a home-and-home series at a much-needed time.

Arenas, Jamison and Caron Butler are currently averaging a combined 66.2 points per game — tops in the NBA.

After Friday’s game against the Dallas Mavericks, Washington will conclude its four-game homestand versus Chicago and New Jersey before opening a six-game road trip from March 23 - April 1.

The Wizards, who are two games behind fourth-place Cleveland and one-half game ahead of No. 6 Indiana, own the highest scoring offense in the Eastern Conference at 101.5 points per game.
