05.25.2005

Washington, DC (Basketball News) - Washington Wizards forward Antawn Jamison underwent successful arthroscopic surgery to remove scar tissue in his right knee on Wednesday.

Jamison, who was named to the All-Star team this season for the first time in his career, posted 19.6 points and 7.6 rebounds this year.

The 28-year-old Jamison helped lead Washington to the postseason for the first time since 1996-97. The team posted its best record in 26 years (45-37).

The Wizards defeated Chicago in six games in the opening round to record their first playoff series win in 23 seasons. Washington eventually was swept in the conference semifinals by the Miami Heat.

Jamison, a seven-year veteran out of North Carolina, has also spent time with Golden State and Dallas. He has recorded 19.2 points and 7.3 boards in 486 career games.
