No Magic; Orlando loses again

Salt Lake City, UT (Basketball News) - Andrei Kirilenko scored 25 points and pulled down 10 rebounds to lead the Utah Jazz to a 90-88 victory over Orlando at the Delta Center.

Matt Harpring contributed 14 points and a career-high 19 rebounds, while Carlos Arroyo had 16 points for Utah, which improved to 5-0 at home on the season.

Tracy McGrady scored a game-high 29 points for the Magic, who have lost 10 straight games since winning their season-opener against New York in overtime. Juwan Howard scored 21 points in the loss.

Arroyo hit a pair of free throws with 29.4 seconds remaining to give Utah a 90-88 lead and the Jazz held on for the win.

McGrady missed a jumper with 18 seconds left, but Arroyo missed two free throws to give the Magic another chance. Derrick Dial’s jumper missed the mark, but Utah turned the ball over with one second remaining to give the Magic yet another opportunity. McGrady’s desperation shot missed everything and the Jazz escaped with the win.

The Magic led by two points after three quarters, but fell behind 72-71 on a three-point play by Jarron Collins to start the final stanza. Howard, however, hit three straight field goals to give Orlando a 77-72 advantage.

Orlando led until Arroyo hit a pull-up jumper with 4:55 remaining to give the Jazz an 84-83 edge and Kirilenko’s jumper gave Utah an 86-83 advantage with 3:35 to go.

McGrady hit a jumper to get the Magic within a point, but Greg Ostertag and Harpring each hit a free throw to give Utah an 88-85 lead with 1:40 to play.

McGrady hit 1-of-2 from the line with 1:27 remaining to pull the Magic within two, 88-86, and Steven Hunter blocked a shot by Kirilenko at the defensive end to set up a jumper by Gordan Giricek that tied the game with 45.8 seconds left.

Drew Gooden hit a short jumper in the closing seconds of the third quarter to give Orlando a 71-69 edge heading into the final stanza.

The game was tied at 25-25 after 12 minutes and the Jazz led by five, 50-45, after a tightly play first half.
