(Basketball News) - The Orlando Magic dropped their second straight game on Wednesday with a 120-110 loss to the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden.
Tracy McGrady netted a game-high 28 points for the Magic. Juwan Howard scored 23 for Orlando, which has dropped eight of its last nine contests.
It was the second-most points Orlando has surrendered this season; the Sacramento Kings beat the Magic 122-92 on Nov. 21
New York led 88-86 heading into a back and forth final quarter. With New York holding a 97-95 edge midway through the fourth, the Knicks made sure that Herb Williams was going out a winner in his one game coaching stint.
After a Lee Nailon jumper brought the Magic within a basket, the Knicks used a 7-0 run to pull ahead 104-95. Frank Williams made a jumper and Anfernee Hardaway followed with a layup. Keith Van Horn then drained a three-pointer on the Knicks’ next possession to give New York some breathing room with under six minutes remaining.
Orlando, which has allowed its opponents to top the 90-point mark in 13 of its last 14 games, got no closer than five points thereafter.
The Magic have lost seven in a row on the road, but will return home to face the Boston Celtics on Friday.
