Rockets, Warriors square off at Toyota Center

02.24.2006

(Basketball News) - The Golden State Warriors play the middle contest of a three-game road trip when they visit the Houston Rockets tonight at the Toyota Center.

Golden State attempts to get back on the winning track this evening. On Tuesday, Brad Miller scored 17 points and Mike Bibby tallied 16 as the Sacramento Kings routed the Warriors, 102-77, at ARCO Arena.

Mickael Pietrus led the Warriors with 16 points and grabbed six rebounds in the loss to Sacramento. Jason Richardson struggled from the field, going just 6-of-20 for 15 points, while Andris Biedrins netted 12 off the bench in defeat.

The Warriors, who will visit the San Antonio Spurs on Saturday at the AT&T Center, are 9-15 as the visitor this season. They have lost eight of their last nine on the road.

Houston tries to win its second straight game. Yao Ming scored 29 points and pulled down 15 rebounds to lead the Rockets past the Los Angeles Clippers, 106-102, on Wednesday at the Toyota Center.

Tracy McGrady finished with 26 points and five assists, while David Wesley contributed 21 points in the win over the Clippers for Houston, which has won eight of its last 10 games overall.

The Rockets are just 9-16 at home this season. They have won three in a row and five of their last six at the Toyota Center.

Houston made a minor deal on Thursday at the trade deadline. The Rockets and Miami Heat exchanged former Kentucky Wildcats, as Houston sent guard/forward Derek Anderson to Miami in exchange for guard Gerald Fitch.

This is the third meeting of the season between the squads. In the two previous contests, both clubs picked up a win on the road.

Golden State has won two of the last three meetings in this series. The Warriors have dropped three straight and four of their last five at Houston.

The Warriors are scheduled to host the Rockets on April 7th at The Arena in Oakland in the fourth and final meeting of the campaign between the clubs.
