(Basketball News) - Two of the top teams in the Western Conference will square off this evening, as the Utah Jazz pay a visit to the San Antonio Spurs at the SBC Center.
San Antonio has won eight of its last 10 games and is currently in first in the Southwest Division. The Jazz, meanwhile, are in second place in the Northwest Division.
The Spurs are coming off a road victory against the Denver Nuggets on Friday evening. Tim Duncan scored 23 points and grabbed 13 rebounds to lead San Antonio to an 89-75 win at the Pepsi Center.
Manu Ginobili recorded 16 points for the Spurs, who have won two straight after losing two in a row. Malik Rose added 11 points and Tony Parker 10, as San Antonio has won four straight and 25 of its last 30 versus Denver.
The victory improved the Spurs’ road record to 5-3 on the season. San Antonio is still undefeated at home (5-0) this year.
Tonight’s matchup is the first of the season between the Spurs and the Jazz. San Antonio has completely dominated the series over the past few seasons, winning 17 straight matchups overall and 11 in a row at home. Utah hasn’t posted a victory over the Spurs since a 93-90 win on February 6, 2000. The Jazz’s last victory in San Antonio came in a 101-87 decision on February 28, 1999.
