The surgery will be performed Thursday in Seattle. He is expected to be sidelined for five-to-six weeks following the procedure.
Barry left Seattle’s 118-116 loss to Dallas on Tuesday night after suffering the injury. He had six points before leaving late in the first half.
The SuperSonics later lost the game when Mavericks forward Antoine Walker hit a jumper at the buzzer.
The 32-year-old Barry is averaging 10.6 points per game this season for Seattle, his ninth in the NBA and fifth with the Sonics. Antonio Daniels and rookie Luke Ridnour are expected to fill in while Barry recovers.
