Seattle SuperSonics Team Report - February 1

(Basketball News) - The Seattle SuperSonics visit the Sacramento Kings on Tuesday at ARCO Arena. It will be the second meeting of the season between the clubs. On November 10th, Seattle crushed Sacramento, 108-78, at KeyArena. With the victory, the Sonics snapped a two-game series losing streak.

Overall, the Kings have won six of eight and seven of the last 11 contests in this series. The Sonics have lost four in a row and seven of their last eight at Sacramento.

Seattle will try and get back on the winning track Tuesday. On Monday, Manu Ginobili had 23 points and Tim Duncan added 21 points and 10 rebounds to lead the San Antonio Spurs to a 103-84 win over the SuperSonics at KeyArena.

The Sonics played Monday without head coach Nate McMillan on the sideline and without All-Star guard Ray Allen and it showed. McMillan was not with the team due to his mother’s death and Allen was out with the flu. In their absence, associate head coach Dwane Casey guided the club, while Ronald Murray started for Allen.

In the loss to San Antonio, Murray, Vladimir Radmanovic and Antonio Daniels all finished with 13 points to lead the Sonics, who have lost two of three and were never in the game.

Allen is doubtful for Tuesday’s contest, while McMillan has taken an indefinite leave of absence from the club to attend the funeral of his mother.

The Sonics, who have won two of their last three as the visitor, are 14-7 on the road this season.

Radmanovic has struggled lately, as he is averaging just 6.3 points per game in his last three contests. The 24-year-old forward is third on the team in scoring at 12.5 points per game.

Daniels is averaging 14.3 points and 5.4 assists in his last 10 games. He has scored in double-digits in nine of his last 12 contests.

After Tuesday game, Seattle will have three full days off before returning home for three straight games. The Sonics are scheduled to host the Charlotte Bobcats on Saturday and will have a few days off once again before hosting the New Orleans Hornets on February 8th. Seattle concludes its homestand on February 10th against the Sacramento Kings.
