Sixers send Snow to Cavs

07.20.2004

Philadelphia, PA (Basketball News) - Philadelphia 76ers president and general manager Billy King announced Tuesday that the team has traded guard Eric Snow to the Cleveland Cavaliers for guard Kevin Ollie and forward Kedrick Brown.

The 31-year-old Snow averaged 10.3 points and 6.9 assists while playing in all 82 regular-season contests for the 76ers this past season. The 6-3 guard had spent six-plus seasons with Philadelphia. Snow had signed a multi-year contract extension with the Sixers in October 2003.

Originally selected out of Michigan State by the Milwaukee Bucks in the second round (43rd pick overall) of the 1995 NBA Draft, Snow had his draft rights traded by the Bucks to Seattle for the draft rights to Aurelijius Zukauskas and a 1996 second round pick in June 1995. He was then traded by the Sonics to the 76ers for a conditional second round draft pick in January 1998.

"Eric was a great captain and a great leader for us and I wish him the best of luck," said King. "This deal will give our younger players an opportunity to play. Kevin is a solid player who will give us the leadership we need in the backcourt, and Kedrick is a developing young player who will add more depth to our bench."

Ollie, 31, averaged 4.2 points and 2.9 assists in 82 games for Cleveland in 2003-04, while the 23-year-old Brown netted 5.3 points and grabbed 2.7 boards per game in 55 contests this past season for the Celtics and Cavaliers.
