The Spurs never trailed and blew it open with 15 consecutive points in the opening quarter. A dunk by Mickael Pietrus had the Warriors within 13-8 with 5:31 left in the first, but San Antonio used a bucket blitz to blow away Nelson’s squad. A Barry three-pointer capped the push, making it 28-8 with 1:35 to play in the opening period.
The Spurs led 30-14 after 12 minutes and 56-42 at the half. The rout continued in the third, as Duncan’s jam finished nine consecutive points by the home team for a 70-46 margin with 8:04 left in the third.
Another Barry three-pointer moved the Spurs to a 31-point advantage at 84-53 and the score stood at 93-61 going into the fourth.
Duncan wasn’t needed for the majority of the second half, and instead sat on the bench to rest his knees. Despite that, the pounding continued, as the Spurs built their lead to as many as 42 points in the final period.
