Struggling Sixers visit Memphis

On Thursday, Carmelo Anthony scored 29 points and grabbed 10 rebounds as the Denver Nuggets came from behind in the fourth quarter to defeat the Sixers, 97-93, at the Wachovia Center.

All-Star Allen Iverson led all scorers with 38 points in the loss to Denver for the Sixers, who lost their third straight game and are 5-4 since the All- Star break. Chris Webber recorded a double-double for Philadelphia, as he scored 17 points and grabbed 20 rebounds.

On the injury front for Philadelphia, guard Kevin Ollie (ankle) is questionable for today’s contest.

The Sixers are in second place in the Atlantic Division, 2 1/2 games behind the New Jersey Nets.

Philadelphia is just 11-18 as the visitor this season. It has dropped two of three and five of its last seven on the road.

The Grizzlies begin a six-game homestand this evening. On Friday, Ron Artest scored 30 points as the Sacramento Kings downed Memphis, 105-93, at ARCO Arena.

Pau Gasol posted 26 points and 12 rebounds in the loss to Sacramento for the Grizzlies, who ended a four-game road trip with a 2-2 record. Bobby Jackson registered 14 points, while Chucky Atkins netted 13 and Shane Battier scored 10 in defeat.

Memphis, which will also host Boston, Denver, Utah, Indiana and the Clippers on the current stand, are 19-9 at home this season. The Grizzlies have won two in a row at the FedExForum.

This is the second and final meeting of the season between the clubs. On January 20th, Iverson poured in 30 points and Webber netted 29 and pulled down eight rebounds, as the Sixers defeated the Grizzlies, 89-86, in overtime at the Wachovia Center.

Philadelphia has lost two straight and three of their last four at the Grizzlies.
