02.2.2007

Orlando, FL (Basketball News) - Hedo Turkoglu dropped in 22 points and Dwight Howard finished with 19 points and nine rebounds, as Orlando thumped the New Jersey Nets, 119-86, at Amway Arena.

Seven Orlando players finished in double figures including Darko Milicic, who had 14 off the bench. Rookie J.J. Redick scored 13 and Jameer Nelson had 12 for the Magic, who have won back-to-back games since their three-game skid.

Vince Carter had 25 points on 8-of-18 shooting for New Jersey, which has dropped five of seven. Eddie House contributed 12 points and Mikki Moore had 11 in a losing effort.

Orlando jumped out to a 9-2 lead following a Turkoglu driving layup, and led the rest of the way. The Nets countered by scoring seven of the next nine points, only to watch the home team surge right back with an 11-2 run to go ahead by double-digits.

After 12 minutes of play, the Magic held a 29-15 advantage.

Things only got worse for the Nets, as they got outscored 30-22 in the second stanza to head into the locker room down 59-37. Carlos Arroyo headed a 9-2 burst with six points, including a pair of free throws with 6:33 left that made it 42-25.

The Magic extended their lead to 88-59 after three quarters, and cruised the rest of the way.
