Gilbert Arenas scored a career-high 43 points for Washington in the losing cause. Arenas’ previous career-high was 41 points. The Arizona product drained 11-of-23 from the field, including 6-of-10 (.600) from three-point range. Arenas, who is averaging 23.2 points and 4.8 assists per contest, also hit 15- of-18 from the free throw line.
Antawn Jamison added 27 points and 10 rebounds, while Juan Dixon chipped in 19 points. Jamison has been a nice acquisition for the Mavericks, recording 20.1 points and 8.4 rebounds per game.
In the contest, the Wizards shot 42.4 percent from the field, including 9- of-23 (.391) from three-point range. Washington hit 33-of-46 from the charity stripe in the contest.
Larry Hughes missed his second consecutive game on the injured list with a fractured thumb. Hughes, who was posting 21.2 points, 5.3 assists and a league-best 2.82 steals per game, is supposed to be out for a while.
Dallas has won three straight over the Wizards. Washington has lost three straight in Dallas.
Washington, which is 14-5, returns home to host Toronto on Friday night. However, the Wizards head back to the road to battle Indiana on Saturday evening.
