Hughes, who has been sidelined since January 15 when he suffered a fractured thumb, is not expected to play for Washington until Friday’s game in Chicago.
He is averaging 21.2 points, 6.1 rebounds, 5.3 assists and a league-leading 2.82 steals this season.
Brown has played in 14 games this season, averaging 5.6 points and 3.4 rebounds on 50.8 percent shooting from the field.
The fourth-year pro has had two different stints on the injured list this season, missing the first 12 games with a broken bone in his right foot and another 26 contests with a right ankle tendon strain and a posterior right ankle impingement.
To make room on the roster, Washington placed guard Juan Dixon (right ankle sprain) and center Peter John Ramos (right plantar fasciitis) on the injured list.
Dixon played in 46 games with three starts prior to sustaining a right ankle sprain at Houston (2/15). In his third season, Dixon is averaging 8.8 points, 2.2 rebounds and two assists in 16.9 minutes per contest.
Ramos has appeared in four games in his rookie campaign and has averaged 1.5 points and one rebound per contest.
