Nets aim to tangle Magic in Orlando

02.2.2007

(Basketball News) - The New Jersey Nets try to get back on the winning track when they visit the Orlando Magic tonight at Amway Arena.

This is the second meeting of the campaign between the squads. On January 20th, All-Star Vince Carter poured in a game-high 27 points and pulled down five rebounds as New Jersey put forth a dominating second half en route to a 101-94 win over Orlando at Continental Airlines Arena.

New Jersey has won four straight and five of the last six contests in the series. The Nets have captured two in a row and four of their last five at Orlando.

The Nets attempt to bounce back after an embarrassing loss at home. On Wednesday, Richard Hamilton shot 8-of-13 from the floor for 24 points as the Detroit Pistons routed the Nets, 113-89, at Continental Airlines Arena.

Mikki Moore poured in 20 points and pulled down five rebounds, while Jason Kidd scored 15 in the loss to Detroit for the Nets, who had a two-game winning streak halted. Carter was just 4-of-15 from the field for 11 points.

New Jersey is 9-13 on the road this season.

Orlando, which plays the middle contest of a three-game homestand, tries to make it two wins in a row this evening. Hedo Turkoglu led a balanced Orlando attack with 17 points as the Magic crushed the Milwaukee Bucks, 98-73, on Wednesday at Amway Arena.

Tony Battie scored a season-high 15 points and pulled down six rebounds in the win over Milwaukee for the Magic, who snapped a three-game losing skid. Keith Bogans poured in 14 points and dished out seven assists, while Darko Milicic recorded a double-double with 14 points and 10 boards in the victory.

The Magic are 15-9 at home this season. They will host the New York Knicks on Friday.
